Crown Vision Media's Jason Gourdine Signs National and International Distribution Deal With Maverick Entertainment


(July 16, 2014) Crown Vision Media is proud to announce  a distribution deal with Maverick Entertainment for the domestic and international DVD release of the film Dominion: Media Matters. Filmed on location in the burgeoning film market of Charleston, SC, the Lowcountry company, along with local cast and crew have experienced great success since their November 2013 Charleston premiere.  After taking home honors from the Texas Black Film Festival and winning Best Feature Film at the Charlotte Black Film Festival, the production began considering both national and international distribution.

“Maverick Entertainment seemed to be a perfect fit for our film,”  stated Jason Gourdine, Director and Producer of Dominion. Founder and President Doug Schwab, a 31-year veteran in the film and distribution industry, has cemented the independent company as the leading entity for niche product with over 500 distributed films in the U.S. Maverick Entertainment Group catalog films have starred the likes of Eva Longoria, Harvey Keitel, James Caan, and Salma Hayek. Titles are currently available at all major video outlets; including Amazon, Redbox, Wal-Mart, Best Buy, and NetFlix. Maverick Entertainment Group Films are also available via several digital outlets; including Hulu, iTunes, YouTube, Cinema Now, and BBDigital. In addition, Maverick's films can be seen on cable television VOD providers; including Comcast, Time Warner, Charter Communications, and Cox Communications

“We’re very excited for our film to go worldwide and allow it to get the exposure is well deserves,” says Gourdine. Dominion: Media Matters tells the story of media giant Jonathan Zander, known for his take no prisoner business attitude. Under suspicion from a previous business deal, Zander must find a new, trustworthy face for his organization. When Zander meets the incredibly talented, yet socially challenged, Sheldon Marcus, Zander finds the perfect tool to funnel his next shady business deal through. The affects of this new deal can cause irreparable damage, but Zander will stop at nothing to increase his profits. Ager leaving a life of mediocrity and insignificance, Sheldon must decide if he will participate in the deconstruction of society of attempt to take down one of the most connected and dangerous business moguls in the world. Dominion is set to be released in early 2015. 

Dominion Takes Home Best Feature At Charlotte Black Film Festival. Receives Honors From Texas Black Film Festival


(March 1, 2014) Charleston, SC - Local filmmaker Jason Gourdine, of Crown Vision Media, set out to produce his first feature film in 2013 titled Dominion: Media Matters. Written and produced by Gourdine, the film boasts a racially diverse cast of Charleston’s local talent. Crafted to spark conversation, the film premiered at the American Theatre on King St, selling out all shows. With a captivating piece in hand, Gourdine and his team set out on a mission to make a mark on the national and international film festival scenes. “We produced this film along with Block One Studios and Abiding Word Family Ministries, says Gourdine. We’ve seen an outpouring of support from the local community. We’re excited to see how the film does in other markets.”

The film, Dominion: Media Matters has a rapidly growing fan base. On March 1st, the full length film was shown at The Charlotte Black Film Festival, where it was an official selection. The highly anticipated yearly festival is held during CIAA weekend and receives film submissions from all around the country.  “This is one of the festivals we were really excited to be invited to.  CIAA draws nearly 100,000 people to the city of Charlotte. We were thrilled about the opportunity to draw that audience to our film,” says Gourdine.

On March 2nd The Charlotte Black Film Festival held its Annual Red Carpet Vision Awards, a closing ceremony, where awards are given to the best in filmmaking. “We were just grateful to make the cut amongst the other submissions, says Gourdine, we weren’t expecting what came next.” Sitting in the audience with his wife Dontrell Gourdine, and the rest of his family, Gourdine was surprised to hear his film awarded the CBFF 2014 Best Feature Film. “This was our first film and our first film festival ever, we couldn’t have asked for a better win.” The recognition continues for Gourdine as he recently received an email from The Texas Black Film Festival announcing that his film was given Honorable Mention in the Feature category.

The filmmaker is still waiting on news from several other festivals regarding selection status. In the meantime, Gourdine is exploring options for distributing his film and developing his next project with projections to begin filming in early 2015.

(December 11, 2013) Charleston, SC - When Moncks Corner native, Jason Gourdine began the development of his first film Dominion: Media Matters, he never imagined the amount of support he would receive from his local community. “Since the first article ran in the Berkeley Independent earlier in this summer, the town has really gotten behind us, says Gourdine. On November 1st, Dominion: Media Matters premiered to two sold out audiences at the American Theatre on King Street, Downtown Charleston. “It was one of the most fulfilling moments of my life.” In fact, the Q & A for the first show had to be cut short after being informed that the audience for the second show was outside waiting. “When I went outside to greet the crowd, I was surprised to see a line  of people wrapped around King Street, becoming a problem for the fire marshall.”

Moncks Corner really supports their own,” Gourdine says. Several local businesses sponsored the premiere, and local churches bought enough tickets to help sell out both shows. Now, on December 17th, the City of Moncks Corner will be honor that date as a special day to observe Gourdine in the achievements being made in filmmaking that impacts the local community. “The response we’ve received has been incredible. We’re humbled by the recognition and motivated to make our hometown proud.”

It’s still very early in the life of the film. Gourdine along with his Crown Vision Media company, and partners at Block One Studios, also Moncks Corner natives, will be representing their hometown as Dominion travels the film festival circuit next year. The films’ been submitted to festival both nationally and internationally. “2014 is going to be a busy year, but we’re up for the challenge,”says Gourdine. Along with the festival travel, Gourdine will be holding additional screening across the southeast, touring the film in local churches, and lining up funding for his upcoming project, also to be shot locally. We’re very excited about the future and feel even more confident with the support of our local community, that goes a very long way.”

Berkeley Independent Write Up

When you hear Moncks Corner, South Carolina, very few think of the entertainment industry. But in fact, several TV personalities and movie stars hail from the great city. From actors such as Kevin Phillips, who appeared in movies such as Pride and Notorious to sports personalities like Doug and Ryan Stewart, Moncks Corner natives has made their mark in the Entertainment Industry. Still, Moncks Corner can appreciate it when local filmmakers use their city as the back drop of their films. Check out the write up for the film in this weeks edition of the Berkeley Independent.

DOMINION: MEDIA MATTERS.....We're Back!!!!!

We're Back! Its been a long time since our last post. I'm glad to say that we are wrapping up production and will be ready to premier very soon!!!!  Throughout our next couple of post in the days to come, you'll be introduced to the cast and crew of Dominion: Media Matter and get a chance to get involve in our DOMINION CAMPAIGN.  For now, check out a few pics from set and a sneak peek of the film!

Characters for Dominion: Media Matters






Here are a few of the character that will appear in Dominion: Media Matters.  We will be casting for these roles, and a few other minor roles on September 15 at the Hyatt Place North Charleston,

Sheldon Marcus
25-30 years old, Protagonist

Sheldon Marcus is a social outcast with awkward mannerism. Brought up as the only child, Sheldon’s parents died when he was only 9 years old.   With no relatives to take him in, Sheldon became ward of the state.  Over the next couple of years, Sheldon found himself  bouncing along several foster homes and schools. This experience took a major toll on young Sheldon’s self esteem.  When Sheldon was 13, he was taken in by a middle class couple in their early 60s, Mr and Mrs. Green. Sheldon’s love for Computer Science and writing code from his close relationship with Mr. Green, a retired Computer Science professor.

Sheldon later experienced the lost of Mr. and Mrs. Green in a similar fashion to the lost of his biological parents. This sent Sheldon in a downward spiral of depression, isolation, and social abandonment. To cope with his lost, Sheldon spent the majority of his time writing computer programs, to continue to feel a sense of closes with his departed loved ones.  His self esteem damaged and sense of self depleted, Sheldon resigns his genius to a lesser role in life, settling for a position at a local call center as a customer service rep and keeping his gift for programming private.

Jonathan Zander
35-40 years old, Protagonist new boss

Jonathan Zander comes from a privileged background, groomed to be apart of the countries elite.  After inheriting the majority of his father’s estate, Zander bought and founded several corporations under his Zander Corps umbrella.  His ventures range from music to real estate, and most recently Internet companies.  Zanders business practices have been called questionable and unethical, making him one of the most notorious leaders in corporate America.  After making several investigations of corrupt business practices go away, Zander ran into a snag after allegedly harming a intern in order to take full ownership of a  new multi-million dollar website.
Zander is known to act irrational in his business dealings, taking great risk at the expense of others.  Though charming and professionally mannered, Zander often allows his tempers to flare, causing sever backlash in the long run.  Using his connection, family influence, and muscle,  Zander often push his luck to take major risk that will land most in prison.

Rob Miller
25-30, close friend of Protagonist

Rob Miller is Sheldon’s closets and only friend.  The two meet in a coffee shop Sheldon often frequents while codding programs.  Rob is the “anti-Sheldon.” While Sheldon is anti-social and often suffers from anxiety, Rob  is quit outgoing, outspoken, and relishes in a social environment.  As the founder of NV, Rob often encourages Sheldon to frequent the establishment as an escape and possible therapy from his current situation. Rob attempts to nourish Sheldon’s self esteem with positive affirmation and motivation.  Rob can also be quit protective of Sheldon, knowing his demeanor can make him a target to others ill intentions.  

Veronica Alexander
30-35, Protagonist love interest

Veronica Alexander is a sharp, young, business executive and number 2 in Zander Corps.  Her Ivy League education has afforded her the opportunity to work with the most prestigious Fortune 500 companies in the nation before landing at Zander Corps.  While a shark in the board room, Veronica can also be a sheep when it comes to more personal matters.   Veronica may not agree with all of Zanders methods, but understands the role she must play in the corporation. Sheldon and Veronica work closely together and form a bond, though Veronica often struggles with upholding Zanders business philosophies and protecting Sheldon.

Courtney Paige
25-30, Protagonist Gold Digging Girlfriend

Courtney Paige is the quintessential Hollywood, socialite.  She strategically places herself in the lives of young successful men as their love interest. Courtney is a pro at distracting men from their priorities and getting what she wants out of them.  While she shines in the area of manipulation, Courtney often comes off as a little airheaded. She is unafraid to speak her mind and gets very possessive and defensive when anyone threatens to depose her status in the lives of these men.    

Gwendolyn Matthews
40-45, Protagonist Telecom Global Boss

Gwen Matthews is Sheldon’s boss at Telecom Global.  A seasoned veteran of the company, Gwen is unfazed by the typical politics that take place in the office.  She doesn’t allow personal relationships to hinder her decision making and is firm, yet fair in her management style.

Brad Collins
20-25, Protagonist rival Co-worker

Brad Collins is a ambitious, competitive, co-worker of Sheldon. He feels very confident about his abilities, and believes his insight is as valuable as gold.  Brad is able to mask over his arrogance by pretending to flaunt his abilities as way to help guide his co-workers. His personality can be described as haughty and a false sense of superiority.
