Dominion: Media Matters Makes Red Carpet Premiere. Director Jason Gourdine Receives Town Proclamation

Press Release
(December 11, 2013) Charleston, SC - When Moncks Corner native, Jason Gourdine began the development of his first film Dominion: Media Matters, he never imagined the amount of support he would receive from his local community. “Since the first article ran in the Berkeley Independent earlier in this summer, the town has really gotten behind us, says Gourdine. On November 1st, Dominion: Media Matters premiered to two sold out audiences at the American Theatre on King Street, Downtown Charleston. “It was one of the most fulfilling moments of my life.” In fact, the Q & A for the first show had to be cut short after being informed that the audience for the second show was outside waiting. “When I went outside to greet the crowd, I was surprised to see a line  of people wrapped around King Street, becoming a problem for the fire marshall.”

Moncks Corner really supports their own,” Gourdine says. Several local businesses sponsored the premiere, and local churches bought enough tickets to help sell out both shows. Now, on December 17th, the City of Moncks Corner will be honor that date as a special day to observe Gourdine in the achievements being made in filmmaking that impacts the local community. “The response we’ve received has been incredible. We’re humbled by the recognition and motivated to make our hometown proud.”

It’s still very early in the life of the film. Gourdine along with his Crown Vision Media company, and partners at Block One Studios, also Moncks Corner natives, will be representing their hometown as Dominion travels the film festival circuit next year. The films’ been submitted to festival both nationally and internationally. “2014 is going to be a busy year, but we’re up for the challenge,”says Gourdine. Along with the festival travel, Gourdine will be holding additional screening across the southeast, touring the film in local churches, and lining up funding for his upcoming project, also to be shot locally. We’re very excited about the future and feel even more confident with the support of our local community, that goes a very long way.”
