Dominion Takes Home Best Feature At Charlotte Black Film Festival. Receives Honors From Texas Black Film Festival

(March 1, 2014) Charleston, SC - Local filmmaker Jason Gourdine, of Crown Vision Media, set out to produce his first feature film in 2013 titled Dominion: Media Matters. Written and produced by Gourdine, the film boasts a racially diverse cast of Charleston’s local talent. Crafted to spark conversation, the film premiered at the American Theatre on King St, selling out all shows. With a captivating piece in hand, Gourdine and his team set out on a mission to make a mark on the national and international film festival scenes. “We produced this film along with Block One Studios and Abiding Word Family Ministries, says Gourdine. We’ve seen an outpouring of support from the local community. We’re excited to see how the film does in other markets.”

The film, Dominion: Media Matters has a rapidly growing fan base. On March 1^st, the full length film was shown at The Charlotte Black Film Festival, where it was an official selection. The highly anticipated yearly festival is held during CIAA weekend and receives film submissions from all around the country.  “This is one of the festivals we were really excited to be invited to.  CIAA draws nearly 100,000 people to the city of Charlotte. We were thrilled about the opportunity to draw that audience to our film,” says Gourdine.

On March 2^nd The Charlotte Black Film Festival held its Annual Red Carpet Vision Awards, a closing ceremony, where awards are given to the best in filmmaking. “We were just grateful to make the cut amongst the other submissions, says Gourdine, we weren’t expecting what came next.” Sitting in the audience with his wife Dontrell Gourdine, and the rest of his family, Gourdine was surprised to hear his film awarded the CBFF 2014 Best Feature Film. “This was our first film and our first film festival ever, we couldn’t have asked for a better win.” The recognition continues for Gourdine as he recently received an email from The Texas Black Film Festival announcing that his film was given Honorable Mention in the Feature category.

The filmmaker is still waiting on news from several other festivals regarding selection status. In the meantime, Gourdine is exploring options for distributing his film and developing his next project with projections to begin filming in early 2015.
